Parivartan Drive - 2016
Podar International School Patiala, a premier educational institute across India, organized a special drive on water conservation and rain water harvesting. Over 100 students participated in this special drive titled ‘PARIVARTAN’, to generate awareness about rainwater harvesting with a view to catering to the daily requirement of water for drinking and domestic purposes in residential usage, besides inculcating a culture of water conservation.
Retd.Capt. Manjit Singh,AO,Thaper University,Patiala & Mr.Rajneesh Kumar (President,Paryavaran Welafare Society,Patiala) inaugurated the rally by waving the green flag.The children walked from Tagor Theatre,Model Town in Patiala at 10 a.m. to Rekhi Hospital,Model Town,Patiala . They carried colourful placards carrying messages like ‘Harvest H2O!’, ‘Bore-wells run dry? Crops failing ? We can still help Indian farmers to fight drought using water-harvesting techniques.’ ‘Today’s rain water is tomorrow’s life saver!’ to state a few. The students also demonstrated the rainwater harvesting models to the local public to explain water literacy in real terms.
Principal of PIS Mr.Rajesh Puri said, “We can all bring in the change. By incorporating a few lifestyle changes, we can actually bring considerable change if every individual is made to feel responsible and this is what our students have tried to communicate to the public. We will be one of the schools practising water management and creating awareness on water harvesting. We try to make our students aware about water conservation. They are young and thus they play a large part in the future of the nation by better implementation things.”
The support and cooperation from the local police & Paryavaran Welfare Society motivated the school to conduct the campaign at Patiala.With the help of placards, informative pamphlets, banners, slogans — the school requested the public to carry out their part by doing their bit in water conservation.
