School Events at Ujjain

The school-wide theme ‘Word Weavers’ will culminate with an event- the ‘Get Lit Festival’, organized by the students and staff members of the school within the school premises. This festival aims at providing opportunities for the students to showcase their learning and the experiences they have just had in the module.

Literary festivals serve as an ideal opportunity to learn more and expose the students to the world of books and reading. Participation in such an event will reinforce the students’ appreciation of short stories and literary works of different authors. This type of literary festival will help in promoting literature and freedom of expression. It will also enhance diverse thinking among students and help them hone their creative spirit and imagination. Organizing the ‘Get Lit Festival’ will be a wonderful way of reaching out to the students, parents and the local community in a way that will benefit everyone. This festival aims at entertaining everybody while giving a platform to the students to share their gained knowledge. The visitors will be exposed to the various activities that will engage them in an exchange of ideas, creativity and thoughts.

The activity was on occasion of celebrating “World Mental Health Day”. World mental health day is celebrated throughout the world on 10th October. Mental health includes our emotional, psychological and social well-being. It affects how we think feel & act. It also helps determine how to handle stress, relate to others and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life from childhood & adolescence through adulthood.
Affirmations, or carefully constructed statements and phrases, are commonly understood as a tool for positivity. Affirmations we tell ourselves can have a significant impact on our life experience. Negative words and thoughts will contribute to negative emotions and experiences, while positive ones will influence positive feelings and interpretation of life.
The main aim of the activity was to build the character of the child through positive thoughts, feelings and emotions about themselves and can help them through the course of their life.
Learning objectives of the activities:-

• The activity would build confidences among the students
• The students will be able to understand how to overcome in the stress and bad situation.
• This will help students to build positive relations with their peers & family members

Note -
The activities involves students and teachers. Activities are as follows:

Secondary Grades

• Affirmation Poster : The activity can be divided into the groups. In group there can be 4 to 5 students (depending upon the class strength). The teacher should distribute the chart sheets to the group and ask them to write the affirmative sentences on the chart sheet few e.g. this phase will pass, I can overcome it, I have faith in you, I know I can handle this, I trust myself, I am capable to doing this, I will do my best etc.  The selected few posters could be displayed on display board as well. The material required : colored pens, chart sheets, crayons
• Worry Jar: The activity should be conducted in the classes. Where the class teachers will keep the worry box and affirmation box which can be named as cheer box, calm box, happy me etc. near the white board where it’s visible to all the students. The students who have worry or stress can write on the colored sheets and drop those chits into the worry box and in return they will take the positive affirmative from the other box. (Discussions - After few days they all can have the discussion on those worries being solved which can be popularly known as worry time (can be decided by the class teachers).

Primary Grades

• Self Recipe of Me : The child is required to bring the materials - lolly sticks, circular sheets, passport size photograph, colored sketch pens. the child is required to stick his passport size photograph in the middle of the sheet and sticks at least 10 lolly sticks around it staying his Positive Qualities.
